Holistic

Midwifery is a holistic approach to childbirth that considers a woman’s desires, health, and complete life story. We provide an individualized approach to care that begins with listening to mothers.

Shared Decision Making

Shared decision making, based on mutual trust, and informed consent are pillars of midwifery care. We provide knowledge and information to make the best decisions for this pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Safety

Research repeatedly shows that birth in the home setting is safe when attended by a trained and experienced midwife. Mothers birthing at home are at decreased risk for unnecessary intervention and cesarean section.

Physiological Birth

Midwifery centers on a physiological approach to birth. Human mothers were created to give birth to human babies. We respect the body’s ability to give birth and allow it to unfold with privacy, dignity, and safety.

Practice Philosophy

We believe that childbirth is a healthy, normal process rooted in a body uniquely designed to give birth to it’s own.  This process is often referred to as physiological birth and is both joyous and empowering.  This process is both time tested and proven and generally requires no intervention.  Although we value and use modern medical technology when necessary, we believe it’s overuse can rob families of the sense of accomplishment and joy that come from giving birth in it’s raw and uninterrupted flow.

It is our goal to create a safe space in which you feel protected and supported to allow your birth to unfold in it’s own way.  Of course, if birth begins to move out of normalcy we strive to bring it back with the least intervention as possible to ensure the  safety of everyone.

Our care begins with prenatal care built on a healthy lifestyle and continues through birth toward a family bonded in love.  We aim to support mothers throughout every part of the child bearing cycle with good nutrition and education, with a focus on both physical and mental well being. Furthermore, we support the growth of healthy babies by helping mothers care for them with solid support and adequate resources.
